The HyperCyt System rapidly acquires samples from a multi-well microplate to perform high-throughput flow cytometry. As a modular add-on for new or existing flow cytometers, the HyperCyt System is designed to acquire samples in a variety of 96- and 384-well microplates. High-throughput sample acquisition is achieved by the HyperCyt Autosampler software module, which utilizes an innovative, patented sampling method. As the sampling probe of the autosampler moves from well to well in a multi-well microplate, a peristaltic pump aspirates sample particle suspensions from each well. Between each well the continuously running pump draws a gap of air into the sample line, resulting in the generation of a series of air-gap-separated samples for delivery to the flow cytometer. Sample and air-gap volumes are determined by the time that the autosampler probe is in a microplate well or above a well drawing in air. The user can define the amount of time the sample probe is in the well or in the air, thus controlling the quantity of specimen for analysis. As the air bubble-separated samples are delivered in a continuous stream to the flow cytometer, the data are collected in a continuous fashion and the accumulated data from all wells of a microplate are collected in a single data file. The time-resolved data, with periodic gaps corresponding to the passage of the sample-separating air gaps, are analyzed by the HyperView Analysis software. Technical Review
New Life Scientific technicians have evaluated the autosampler for functionality. The HyperCyt was powered on and the robotic arm homes in on the XYZ axes, the orbital shaker LED turned green, and the control panel was used to test the pump. This instrument is not fully-tested but the technicians note that all mechanical aspects appear free of hindrance. The customer will need to provide licensed controlling software prior to application. This instrument will be sold as a working product and comes with a ninety-day warranty.
